East Dudley Avenue celebrates Halloween on October 31, 2026, and Westfield United by Light returns November 22 with candle kits supporting local needs.

We had another short Westfield Town Council meeting on October 20, but I wanted to share these two updates for our neighbors in Westfield, New Jersey. Both are reminders of how much the people on our blocks contribute to this community.

East Dudley Avenue is America’s “Trick-or-Treatiest Street”

Reese’s has named East Dudley Avenue the “Trick-or-Treatiest Street in America.” If you’ve seen the creativity and enthusiasm on that street in October, you know why.

That recognition belongs to the residents who put so much time, effort, and candy into making Halloween special for our kids. A huge thank you to the neighbors who make it happen!

Reese’s will be on the street with activities and plenty of candy. It should be a fun night to bring the family.

When can families trick-or-treat on East Dudley Avenue?

Please visit East Dudley Avenue on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 3–8 p.m. During those hours, East Dudley will be closed to vehicle traffic between Lawrence Avenue and Clark Street. These visiting hours and the road closure apply to that stretch of East Dudley Avenue.

Our Police and Department of Public Works (DPW) teams have been preparing for the past few weeks to help keep the evening safe and enjoyable. The Town of Westfield’s Halloween update also outlines the closure and asks visitors to trick-or-treat during those hours.

Help keep Halloween safe and welcoming

As a dad of two young daughters, I appreciate the people who help create these memories. If you’re visiting East Dudley, please:

  • Respect residents’ homes, lawns, and property.
  • Keep driveways clear.
  • Thank the neighbors hosting us.
  • Take extra care driving around town.

There’s also plenty of Halloween fun to be had on your own block, where stopping at a neighbor’s door is a chance to catch up.

When is Westfield United by Light in 2026?

Westfield United by Light returns Sunday, November 22, 2026. The Westfield United Fund invites households to purchase candle kits and join a townwide evening of light and community connection.

Where can I buy Westfield United by Light candle kits?

Candle kits are now on sale. Purchase your 2026 Westfield United by Light candle kits through the Westfield United Fund’s official order page, and visit its United by Light event page for participation details.

What do candle-kit proceeds support?

This year, proceeds will support a broader range of needs in Westfield and across Union County, including:

  • Food assistance.
  • Mental health services.
  • Senior care.
  • Programs for children and adults with special needs.

It’s a simple way to help organizations doing essential work for our neighbors. I hope you’ll consider participating and inviting a neighbor to join you.
