Westfield Christmas Tree and Menorah Lightings: 2026 Guide

Westfield, NJ’s Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. The Hanukkah menorah lighting is scheduled for Friday, December 4, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Downtown Westfield’s 2026 event plan lists both at the North Side Train Station.
These are two evenings to put on the family calendar now. A little planning makes it easier to enjoy them: choose where to park, leave time to walk to the gathering area, and check the event listing again before heading downtown.
Information checked October 30, 2026. Times come from the live Town calendar; the location comes from Downtown Westfield Corporation’s 2026 event plan. Additional program details and weather arrangements may be announced closer to each event. All times are local.
When are Westfield’s holiday lightings in 2026?
| Event | Date | Listed hours |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas tree lighting | Saturday, November 28 | 5–7 p.m. |
| Hanukkah menorah lighting | Friday, December 4 | 5:30–6:30 p.m. |
The DWC identifies the North Side Train Station for both ceremonies. The individual Town calendar entries currently show a general Westfield address, so check those listings for more precise gathering instructions as the dates approach.
The hours above are the event windows. They do not establish the exact minute the tree or menorah will be illuminated. If that moment matters most to your family, plan to be in place at the beginning and look for a more detailed program from the organizers.
What is planned for the Christmas tree lighting?
The Town’s 2026 Christmas tree lighting listing describes festive music and an evening for families. It falls on November 28, the same date the DWC has scheduled Small Business Saturday.
That makes it an easy day to combine a downtown errand or some holiday shopping with the lighting. If you’re planning dinner, choose a reservation that leaves a comfortable gap before the event rather than trying to finish a meal at the exact start time.
Will Santa be at the 2026 tree lighting?
The current 2026 calendar description does not yet name a Santa arrival time or a detailed entertainment lineup. Santa, refreshments and other activities appeared in the Town’s 2025 announcement, but that is last year’s program. Watch the 2026 listing for this year’s details before promising children a particular activity.
When and where is the Westfield Hanukkah menorah lighting?
The 2026 Hanukkah Menorah Lighting is listed for Friday, December 4, 5:30–6:30 p.m. The DWC’s event plan places it at the North Side Train Station. The Town describes it as a community celebration of the Festival of Lights.
This guide covers the downtown ceremony. Congregations and community organizations may also hold their own Hanukkah celebrations with different locations and schedules.
The current listing does not provide an activity-by-activity program. For questions about participation, accessibility or the ceremony itself, use the organizer information linked through Downtown Westfield’s event calendar. Check the date carefully when sharing a flyer; older December event announcements still appear in searches.
Where should I park for the holiday lightings?
Start with the South Avenue train station lot, Lot 3, as an option to check, and allow time to walk to the north side. The Town’s Parking Services page lists free parking in Lot 3’s permit spaces after 10 a.m. and free Saturday parking in eligible permit spaces in Lots 3, 6 and 8.
Those rules apply to the specified spaces. Follow signs and any event restrictions; nearby metered, reserved or loading spaces can have different rules. An event at the station may also change where vehicles can enter or park.
Is downtown holiday parking free in 2026?
I have not found a published 2026 holiday-wide meter waiver in the official sources checked for this guide. Use the standing parking rules until the Town announces a seasonal program. A previous year’s free-parking announcement does not establish this year’s dates or conditions.
For a fuller explanation of the lots and permit system, see my Westfield train parking guide. If you’re arriving by train, check NJ TRANSIT for the service operating on your event date, including the return trip.
What should families check before leaving home?
- Reopen the official event listing. Check for a changed time, gathering point, weather notice or added activity.
- Allow time for the walk. Choose a parking option before leaving and use marked crossings around the station.
- Dress for time outdoors. Layers and comfortable shoes make waiting easier, especially for children.
- Agree on a meeting spot. Pick a recognizable place in case members of your group become separated.
- Ask about access needs in advance. Confirm the closest accessible approach or drop-off arrangement with the organizer.
Is there a rain date or registration requirement?
The calendar entries reviewed on October 30 do not specify a rain date, ticket price or registration step. That is the information currently available, rather than a guarantee that no arrangements will be added. The linked Town entries and DWC calendar are the best places to check.
What other community lighting event is coming up?
Westfield United by Light is scheduled for Sunday, November 22. This is a separate household candle-lighting fundraiser organized by the Westfield United Fund. The Town links the participation details on its community events page.
I included it in my October community update. Joining a neighborhood fundraiser, stopping in a local shop and attending a downtown ceremony are different ways to spend time with neighbors during the season. I hope you’ll find one that fits your family.
