Westfield, NJ collects curbside recycling every other week in 10 zones through Interstate Waste Services. Recycling must be at the curb by 6 a.m.; you may put it out after 6 p.m. the evening before. Thanksgiving and Christmas change some November and December 2026 pickup dates.

The important detail is your zone. Two homes can have the same usual weekday and still be on different collection weeks. Use the address lookup for a personalized calendar, or find your home on the map and check your zone’s row below.

Information checked November 2, 2026 against the Town’s recycling schedule and 2026 recycling mailer. This guide covers the remaining 2026 collections. Check Town notices for weather or service changes.

How do I find my Westfield recycling zone?

For pickup dates without deciphering the map, use Westfield’s Recycle Coach address lookup. Enter your street number and street name, then select the matching Westfield address to see its collection calendar.

Address lookup supplied by Recycle Coach. Open the lookup in its own page if it does not display here.

The official recycling zone map divides Westfield into Zones 1–5 north of the railroad and Zones 6–10 south of it. Locate your home within a numbered area. Check the address carefully if you live near a boundary; the street name alone may not settle the question.

Apartment and condominium residents should ask their building manager where to leave recycling. For a question about a boundary or an address the lookup cannot resolve, contact Westfield DPW.

What are the Westfield recycling pickup dates for November and December 2026?

Use your zone’s row below. Bold dates are holiday changes; the usual weekday appears under each zone number. For earlier months, see the full 2026 calendar.

Save the dates for your own zone rather than setting a reminder for every Monday or every other Friday without checking the starting week. Recycle Coach can also provide collection reminders.

Does recycling change for Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Yes. Thanksgiving moves Zone 9 to Friday, November 27, and Zone 10 to Saturday, November 28. Christmas moves Zone 10 to Saturday, December 26. These are the exceptions in the Town’s 2026 schedule.

Zone 8 is still listed for Wednesday, November 11, and Zone 9 for Thursday, December 24. A holiday closure at Town Hall or the Conservation Center does not automatically cancel curbside collection. Check the service you actually plan to use.

What can go in a Westfield curbside recycling container?

The Town’s accepted-materials list includes aluminum and tin cans, glass bottles and jars, clean dry cardboard and paper, cartons, and accepted plastic containers marked #1 or #2. Empty and rinse recyclable containers, and remove lids and caps, as the Town instructs.

Keep plastic bags, shredded paper, batteries, foam packaging, plastic cups and plates, and plastics marked #3–#7 out of the curbside bin. A recycling symbol does not mean an item belongs in this particular collection program.

Westfield uses single-stream collection: accepted materials can share one reusable container. Do not bag them in plastic. The curbside program page also explains that #5 plastics have a separate free drop-off option at the Conservation Center.

Can I take recycling to the Conservation Center instead?

Westfield residents have additional drop-off options at 1300 Lamberts Mill Road. My Conservation Center guide covers hours, accepted materials and which services require permits. Sort items by the Center’s categories before loading the car; its rules differ from curbside collection.

Who do I contact if recycling was not collected?

Report a missed collection to Interstate Waste Services at westfieldrecycles@interstatewaste.com or 908-222-1566, option 8. The Town recommends email and notes that weather or equipment problems can affect service.

Include your street address, zone, scheduled collection date and when the container was put out. Check for a Town service alert first, so you know whether the contractor has already announced a delay affecting your area.

Are recycling zones the same as leaf collection zones?

Yes, the Town uses the same zone boundaries, but leaf collection follows a separate sequence. A recycling date does not tell you when the leaf crew will reach your home. See my Westfield leaf collection guide for the 2026 route sequence, free leaf bags and December 4 curbside placement deadline.
